Beaches

PRAIA DOS PESCADORES ARMACAO DE PERA

Attractive palm tree lined promenade overlooking the beach which is wide and good for swimming and water sports,  Many shops and restaurants.  Using the Red House as the centre of the town, we refer to the old part being east of the house where most of the restaurants and Sports facilities can be found.

PRAIA DE MARINHA

A turning off the EN125 opposite the International School between Porches and Lagoa will bring you to this lovely beach at Marinha with its impressive cliff top walks.  Many steps down to the beach. Ample car parking. Quiet out of season, and restaurant open all summer.  Pedaloes and Jet Ski’s available. Beach between cliffs and rocks.

ALBANDEIRA

Same directions as for Praia de Marinha, however when you get to the cross roads at the winery on the road to Benagil , turn  left  and follow signs.  Small beachbar -limited menu and wines.  Small sandy beach cove. Good for cliff top walks but dangerous for small children.

PRAIA DE BENAGIL

Follow directions as for the above, continue past the  turning for Marinha, and you will come to a steep hill, at the bottom you will find limited car parking.  Small sandy beach offering boat trips during the summer.  This beach can be dangerous out of season due to currents. Small beach bar, but also local restaurants near by.

PRAIA DE CENTIANES

Located 2 km's east of Carvoeiro,  a very good beach but inclined to get busy in the summer.  Restaurant on the beach.  Some steps.

PRAIA DO CARVOEIRO

Very very busy in the summer and quite small, even though they have made an alternative park area for the fishing boats.  There are over 40 restaurants in Carvoeiro and you are spoilt for choice.

PRAIA DE CANEIROS

Located off the road between Sesmarias and Ferragudo, a pretty cove with part sandy/pebbly beach.  Fairly quiet with a beach bar and restaurant near by.  Parking can be difficult.

PRAIA GRANDE

Taking the EN125 to Portimao via the old road, take left turning to Ferragudo and follow the signs to the beach.  Alternatively take the coast road as for Caneiros above and follow the road round to the west.  Ample parking for this wide sandy beach which overlooks the estuary to Portimao harbour. Several beach bars and very good for water sports - especially beginners at Wind Surfing as it is quite shallow.

SENHORA DA ROCHA

A small sandy beach located off the road between Porches and Armacao de Pera.  A good place to take a boat trip - good little beach bar.  Busy during summer.  Ample parking at the top of the cliff.

PRAIA DE CENTIANES

Located 2 km's east of Carvoeiro,  a very good beach but inclined to get busy in the summer.  Restaurant on the beach.  Some steps.
