Water Parks

Aqualand Algarve

Ex-The Big One, is located in the central area of the Algarve, near the town of Alcantarilha (Armação de Pera), 15 Km from Albufeira. The park has water attractions for all tastes, some totally unique in the country, such as the Banzai, which give moments of pure adrenaline, joy, fun, adventure and relaxation.

Slide and Splash

The name says it all – Slide and Splash is one of the leading Algarve attractions and should be on your list of things to do in Portugal. It's a a day of sliding down the Kamikaze or the Black Hole and splashing in the Olympic sized pool. The park is good for children of all ages, particularly excellent for the little ones.

With over 25,000m of grass areas there is plenty of room for everyone, even at the height of the season. If you’re not inclined to try the slides you can relax in the shade of a palm tree or enjoy a leisurely swim in the Olympic sized pool.

There are lots of slides to choose from – the more adventurous Kamikaze (hang onto your swimsuit!) and Bonzai (good for racing against a friend), to the slightly less daunting plunge pools and wide lane slides. The children´s area is great - 1200 m of fun. A water spitting dragon, elephant slides, tunnel slides and wide lane slides. In the kids area the water has a maximum height of 40 cms.

There are several kiosk selling snacks, ice creams and drinks and a self-service restaurant. There is a first aid post, just in case. The park is clean and well maintained, the maintenance managers are constantly circling the park checking on all the rides, which is very reassuring and each slide has its own lifeguards.

You can hire out sun loungers, parasols and lockers if you wish.

Zoomarine Algarve

Zoomarine is one of the Algarve´s biggest attractions and certainly lives up to the hype. Open all year round, entry tickets are very reasonably priced, and you can spend a fun packed day at the park with plenty to keep all the family entertained.

The spectacular shows include:

  • Dolphins in Motion - a breath-taking demonstration of the dolphins’ agility, intelligence and the special bond they have with their trainers. I could have watched this show several times over, especially as the routine varies from show to show to keep the dolphins stimulated.

  • The Magic Book - a pantomime performed by seals, sea lions and their trainers, loosely based on Peter Pan. This show gets lots of laughs and applause from the audience and is definitely one that the kids will enjoy.

  • The Enchanted Forest - a slap stick show with tropical birds that promotes environmental awareness.

  • Sweeping the Skies - a dramatic and educational birds of prey display, which allows you to see these impressive birds very close up!

There is also an Aquarium, showing over 20 marine ecosystems, and several marine life habitat exhibitions scattered around the park.
